Speedier Picture Uploader with New Features Available Soon

If you use eBay picture hosting for your listing photos and list with the Sell Your Item form, you’ll soon see some changes to the way you upload your pictures. A new version of the Standard uploader will be available in the next few days.

The new Standard uploader will help you upload pictures faster. Plus you’ll be able to crop and rotate your photos in a new, larger picture preview area in the Add Pictures window before you upload them. These features, previously available only in the Enhanced uploader, will be available in the updated Standard uploader on all supported browsers and computer operating systems.

If you’re using the Standard picture uploader and have Flash 10 installed, you’ll be automatically upgraded to the new version in the next few days. If you have Flash 9 installed, you’ll continue to see the current version of the Standard uploader. If you’d like to install Flash 10, you can download it for free from the Adobe website.

Since the Standard uploader will now include the most important benefits of the Enhanced version, we plan to retire the Enhanced uploader after July 2010. At that time, if you have the Enhanced uploader as your default, you’ll be automatically switched to the Standard uploader if you have Flash installed. If you don’t have Flash installed, you’ll be switched to the Basic uploader.
