New, More Descriptive Item Conditions In Some Categories
2010-05-14 01:43:57
Starting this week, you will begin to see new, more informative terms used to describe an item’s condition appearing in many categories. The terms may vary by category—for example, conditions for cell phones and cameras include “New” and “Manufacturer refurbished” and the conditions for clothing include “New with tags” and “New without tags.” Find a complete list of these terms and definitions in eBay’s Help section.
Attention sellers: New condition values available now in affected categories; required by July 27
The new condition values, originally announced in the 2010 Summer Seller Update, are available now and we strongly encourage you to start using them right away. As of July 27 you’ll be required to specify item condition with the new values when you list, re-list, or sell similar in the affected categories.
New values automatically applied in more categories
In some subcategories, existing item conditions will be automatically “mapped” to the new ones. We’ve now expanded the number of subcategories where this automatic mapping will take place. If you list in one of these subcategories and you already specify item condition, you will not need to update your item condition.
Use the look-up table to find out whether your categories are affected by the new item conditions. Under Automatic Mapping you’ll see a complete list of the subcategories where automatic mapping will take place.
